Emre Günaydın was born in 1979, in Istanbul, Turkey. His interest towards drums began in the high school years and turned into a professional carrier during the university years. He carried forward his education by taking courses from the leading drummers of Turkey, namely Selami Sevinç, Şenol Küçükyıldırım, Cengiz Baysal and Cem Aksel, and graduated from Yıldız Technical University Department of Music & Performing Arts. Starting out his professional life in 1999 with the progressive rock band Comma, Emre, gave private and group drumming lessons in Sabancı University musical training courses and at Hayart Schools. His aspiration for jazz music led him to become a part of the band Flat Five, to perform in many events including Yapı Kredi Culture and Art Events, 11th and 12nd Istanbul International Jazz Festivals, between the years 2003-2006. He participated to the jazz workshops and master classes in Turkey, Poland and France. He had the chance to work with the globally recognized drummers such as Jojo Mayer, Thomas Lang, Steve Smith, Cezary Konrad and Marcin Jahr. Having performed with many artists including Ceza, Nev, Jehan Barbur, Pilli Bebek, WUFI, Birsen Tezer, Melis Sökmen, Kaybedenler Kulubü (Can Gox), Emre continues to perform with various jazz and rock musicians all around Turkey and to give drumming lessons in Modafen Schools powered by Eduka Group and private lessons in his own studio.
